TECH TIP #3: HOW TO TURN ON YOUR PHONE’S HOTSPOT WiFi

Hi there!
Welcome to another TECH TIP Tuesday from TECH SENIORS — your weekly guide to making technology easier and more helpful in everyday life.

This Week’s TECH TIP:

Turn On Your Phone’s Own Hotspot WiFi

What It’s About:

Need Wi-Fi but there’s no network nearby? You can use your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot to share your phone’s internet connection with a tablet, computer, or another phone. It’s like turning your iPhone into a portable Wi-Fi router!

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

  2. Tap Personal Hotspot (or tap Cellular, then Personal Hotspot).

  3. Turn on the switch that says “Allow Others to Join.”

  4. You’ll see a Wi-Fi password — this is what other devices will use to connect to your phone’s hotspot.

To Connect to that Hotspot

  1. Go to the other device’s Wi-Fi settings.

  2. Look for your iPhone’s name in the list of networks.

  3. Tap it and enter the password shown on your iPhone.

Why This Helps:

Turning on your hotspot is perfect when you’re traveling, stuck without Wi-Fi, or need to get your other devices (i.e., laptops, tablets, etc.)online on the go — no cables, no extra devices.

Bonus Tip:

Keep an eye on your data usage if you don’t have an unlimited plan. Streaming videos or downloading large files through your hotspot can use up data quickly!
